What Makes The Intensive Counseling Process So Different?
We know how hard it can be to find the right kind of help. Over the past eighteen years, our Intensive Counseling Process™️ has helped nearly one thousand men and women heal their brokenness, transform their marriage, and find lasting freedom. During this time we've isolated five crucial components that catalyze the lasting change you need.
A Structure That Gives You Sufficient Time and Space
An Approach That Addresses Your Root Issues
The majority of our clients seek out intensive counseling because previous counseling has never gotten to the root of the problem. Without getting to the root, lasting change is impossible. Because our counselors are licensed therapists and clinically grounded in the latest trauma research and treatment for addictions, marital counseling, and trauma (including EMDR) we are able to quickly identify root causes and develop a customized path to healing. Having said that, you won't find any of us wearing white lab coats (or ties for that matter) as our office environment is informal and casual.
Before you make the commitment to an intensive you'll directly consult by phone with our Founder & Clinical Director, Michael John Cusick. Michael is the author of two books and an internationally recognized expert on the healing of sexual brokenness, spiritual formation, addiction, and soul care. Since 1994, Michael has trained graduate counseling and seminary students in courses which include Addictions Counseling, Human Sexuality, Soul Care, and Psychopathology.
A Vision Beyond Modifying Your Behavior
Many of our clients relate to a life of "sin management." Their best attempts at freedom have left them feeling inadequate, defeated, exhausted, and without hope. Our Intensive Counseling Process is based on the idea that lasting change happens from the inside out.
Soul care approach. At Restoring the Soul we understand that you were created for authentic spirituality. That's why everything we do is through the lens of the soul--your inner life and the most real part of who you are. In fact, we believe soul care is essential in order to address core issues and get to the root level of your concerns. So, from the time of the first contact until the time you leave, our counselors are asking the question, "What is God up to in this person's life and how do we join in on what God is already doing?"
A Jesus Shaped Path For Your Healing Journey
In addition to clinical expertise and an integrated soul care approach, we take seriously the life and ministry of Jesus as a model for healing the inner life of the mind, will, emotions, and spirit. In doing so we integrate the Four Streams of Healing that include: counseling, deep discipleship, spiritual warfare, and inner healing. It's this rare combination of healing elements that when combined with the best of clinical counseling so often results in life-changing breakthroughs.

A Relationship With Wounded Healers
When you're in pain you want to know that the person sitting across from you really gets you. At Restoring the Soul, all of our counselors are wounded healers. We've found freedom from consuming addiction. We've experienced major healing from abuse and trauma and betrayal. We've walked through dark valleys and come out on the other side knowing the joy of restoration.
Although each of our stories is unique, the power behind every intensive is that our counselors "lead with a limp, "and walk deeply with God. We'd like to think this is the "secret sauce" behind the power and impact of Restoring the Soul intensive counseling.
But we'll let you decide.
