This year marks the sixteenth year I have been doing Intensive Counseling through Restoring the Soul. So it’s not surprising I’ve been thinking a lot about some of my earliest clients in intensive counseling
John and Betsy were missionaries from overseas and had come for an intensive because of a difficult transition out of ministry. For two weeks we met every day we met for three hours in the morning, while in the afternoon they were given assignments.
During this time I’ve worked with hundreds of couples and individuals who have made the bold investment in their lives to press in, dig down, and open themselves to the possibility that more is available
Clients seek, and ultimately attend intensive counseling for seven different reasons.
Lack of nearby resources
Exhaustion of existing resources
Lack of progress or healing
Need for increased intensity and frequency
Need for intense focus
Presence of a personal or relational crisis
Last ditch effort
