Rev. Michael John Cusick, MA, LPC

Founder & CEO

Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor, spiritual director, speaker, and author of two books including Surfing for God: Discovering the Divine Desire Beneath Sexual Struggle and Somebody's Daughter: An Experiential Guide. Having experienced the restoring touch of God in a deeply broken life and marriage, Michael’s passion is to connect life’s broken realities with the reality of the gospel.

In addition to leading Restoring the Soul and equipping Christian organizations around the world, Michael formerly served as an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary and full-time professor at Colorado Christian University. He holds an MA in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University and an MA from the College of Education at the University of Denver. Michael lives with his wife Julianne in the foothills of Colorado where he enjoys the Rocky Mountains and a host of other outdoor activities with friends and family.

Julianne Cusick, MA, LMFT

Co-Founder and Betrayal Trauma Specialist

Julianne Cusick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Maiberger Institute Certified EMDR Therapist and an AANE Certified Neurodiverse Couples Coach, giving her a unique understanding of how unresolved trauma and neurodiversity can impact a marriage.

She has over 20 years of experience helping women, men, and couples understand and overcome the wounds of sexual betrayal, attachment trauma, and other relational trauma. She embodies hope arising from her own story of healing and redemption.

Julianne thrives on personal and professional growth and development and enjoys all things enneagram. She loves reading, gardening, sunshine, and sharing a good meal with family and friends. Listen to Julianne on the Restoring the Soul podcast and more here.

Brian Boecker, MA, LPC

Intensive Clinical Soul Care Specialist & Clinical Manager

Brian holds a Masters degree from Denver Seminary and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is trained in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Internal Family Systems, and a number of temperament personality assessments.

He brings extensive missionary experience and past intensive counseling experience working with individuals, couples, pastors, missionaries, and other Christian leaders. Brian served with CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) for 27 years in a variety of leadership capacities primarily throughout East Asia where he oversaw 800+ staff from 10+ sending countries in 10 different regions.

Since leaving staff with CRU, Brian has served with multiple ministries and partnered with many churches and organizations. He is also a clinical supervisor at Denver Seminary. He has a deep love of entering the stories of people in ways that move them toward restoration, healing, and wholeness. Brian enjoys a good time with friends, being outdoors, and finding empty nest adventures with his beloved wife Crystal. They enjoy living in Colorado and have two adopted adult daughters. Janelle Hallman, PhD, LPC

Janelle Hallman is a Licensed Professional Counselor, ordained minister, professor, author and speaker on issues such as redemption, healing, and wholeness.

Janelle has taught courses at Colorado Christian University and Denver Seminary. She received her MA in Counseling from Denver Seminary and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University.

Janelle loves counseling, teaching and sharing realities about God, life, and the human experience in a way that transforms and touches a person’s deepest heart. She enjoys working with any individual seeking greater wholeness. Janelle has a passion for facilitating growth and sitting with women in group formats. She loves beauty, babies (being a grandmother, of course!), nature, and reading. You may even find her absorbing the spiritual masters for fun at the beach. Janelle’s zest for life really comes through on this episode of the Restoring the Soul podcast, Ep. 239.

Ben Wilson, MA, LPC

Intensive Clinical Soul Care Specialist

Ben is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25+ years of experience. He completed his BA and MBA before attending Colorado Christian University for his MA in Counseling, where he subsequently taught. He is trained in EMDR for trauma and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couple’s counseling. He continutes expanding his knowledge about the Enneagram and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Ben co-authored Betrayed and Betrayer: Rescuing Your Marriage After The Affair out of his own broken and restored marriage.

Ben loves being a part of his clients’ growth process. He served on church staff for twelve years where he led counseling and care ministries. He enjoys facilitating small groups and has led groups for marriage, men, and women, including groups for recovery, affairs, sexual abuse, and sexual addiction. Ben and Ann, his wife, have led marriage conferences for over a decade.

Beyond counseling, Ben loves being outdoors. He’s a former professional golfer, has completed 2 Ironman triathlons, and can often be found cycling Colorado’s challenging roads. Recently, he’s spent time in the Rockies skiing and paddle boarding with his granddaughter, with time most mornings set aside for contemplation and sunrise strolls with his dog, Jack. Liz Abney, MA

Liz is a Georgia native but her soul is deeply rooted in the majestic mountains of Colorado. Her heart is most alive when she is found hiking or biking a backwoods trail. Liz holds a BA in Religion and Psychology from Wake Forest University and an MA in Counseling from Denver Seminary. She is passionate about all things people, redemption and reconciliation. Liz is a runner and loves adventuring with her husband and young sons.

Renee George

Renee loves serving others and comes to us from the world of education. She has worked as a teacher and also an administrative assistant at local schools. She enjoys serving the staff and clients of Restoring the Soul. Renee has two adult children who are her greatest blessings. She enjoys spending time with others, baking, hiking, and game nights with her family.
